As we write this review, Ford is hard at work reimagining the Fusion as a more wagon-oriented vehicle, but since 2006, the Fusion has been a midsize sedan that delivers great value for the dollar. It’s more than five model years old, which means that you can get a great deal on it, but it is still a rather new vehicle.
Trim Levels
The 2018 used Ford Fusion was offered in five trim levels: S, SE, Titanium, Platinum and V6 Sport. The Fusion S is the base model but still rather impressively equipped for the segment that model year. The SE isn’t too far removed from the base trim. It includes a few extra amenities and was often the base package that you’d find at our dealership when shopping for this vehicle new. There were a lot of optional packages for the SE. That means there’s a great deal of variety among the SE models, or you can target the Titanium, which is essentially the SE plus all of its options in addition to a more powerful engine. The Platinum is the first trim with leather seating, and the V6 Sport not only adds more amenities and technologies but the most powerful engine available during this model year.
Exterior
Every used Ford Fusion near Quad Cities available at Brad Deery Ford serving Davenport Bettendorf Rock Island Moline Dubuque Maquoketa is a four-door midsize sedan. It has a 112.2-inch wheelbase and measures 191.7 inches long, which is just shy of 16 feet. The base model has 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic projector headlamps and LED taillamps. The SE adds 17-inch wheels and LED daytime running lamps and was available in an Appearance package that adds a spoiler and increases wheel size to 18 inches. The Titanium includes those upgrades. A more elaborate grille is standard starting with the Platinum trim level, and the V6 Sport adds 19-inch wheels and quad exhaust tips.
Interior
The second-generation used Ford Fusion near Quad Cities available at Brad Deery Ford is a roomy vehicle. Front legroom is more than 44 inches. Second-row legroom is more than 38 inches, and the trunk provides 16 cubic feet of cargo space. The base model has a four-speaker sound system. The more common SE upgrades it to six speakers and satellite radio. If you want the 8-inch infotainment touch screen rather than the 4.2-inch LCD display, you’ll need to target the Titanium and up or look for an SE model that has the Technology add-on. The Titanium also adds sport seating, ambient lighting and a premium Sony audio system. The Platinum adds leather-trimmed seating, and the V6 Sport has premium synthetic leather and suede seating along with better ride comfort due to the suspension.
Mechanical
Front-wheel drive was standard for this particular used Ford Fusion, and while all-wheel drive was available, that option was exclusive to the upgraded engine. That means that FWD models are far more prevalent among the used vehicles available at our location serving Davenport Bettendorf Rock Island Moline Dubuque Maquoketa. The base powertrain features a six-speed automatic transmission with a 175-horsepower four-cylinder engine. A 181-hp turbocharged engine was optional with the SE and standard with the Titanium and Platinum. This is the engine that allowed you to opt for all-wheel drive. The V6 Sport is exclusively all-wheel drive and powered by a 325-hp turbo V6.
Technologies
Despite having the basic LCD display, the S model has Sync, Apple and Android integration and a rearview camera. You can find the 8-inch touch screen with the SE model, and it’s actually rather common as this was a frequent reason that many buyers moved up from the base trim. It’s included with the Titanium and up. The Titanium is also the point in the lineup where standard driver assists were added and optional driver assists were offered.
